I had to hot wire the flasher relay for my e28....
..I got my turn signals working... in total conjunction to the door locks somehow lol.
Man it was loud when I had to turn

Nope just smoke

that’s a pretty common problem on older Alfas actually, the switches suck and get all gummy/corroded. Usually they just stop working, or arc a little causing blown flasher relays. Smoke is not unexpected though ;)

My MJ’s headlight switch set itself on fire once. By the time I had the dash pulled apart far enough to blow out the flame it was about three inches high. No fun at all. Fortunately nothing else caught for me or for you.

I had the headlight switch smoke out on my 92 Jetta. (While taking the wife out for her birthday! Ack!) I went onto VW Vortex to ask about it-within 1 hour I had 10 people tell me they had that happen to them. A screw backs out in the dash + hits a big fat hot wire.
